Statistical Analysis
Whether you are new to analysing data or are looking to expand and update your knowledge of statistical analysis methods our Statistical Analysis training is perfect for you.
Join us to:
-
Learn how to select the most appropriate method of statistical analysis for your chosen experimental design.
-
Discover how to create visual summaries of your data and report results in accordance with best practice.
-
Practice the skills you need to appropriately and effectively analyse data using a range of statistical methods.
-
Understand the importance of linking the results of your statistical analysis to the study purpose to better inform decision making.
Theory elements include:
Session 1
The basics of data visualization and hypothesis testing including: minimising variation, transforming data, dealing with outliers and the structure of a significance test.
Session 2
Estimation and measures of precision; an introduction to non-parametric and other statistical tests to compare more complex data sets plus the basics of ANOVA.
Session 3
When to extend ANOVA including randomised block designs and factorial treatment structures, plus analysis of covariance, ANCOVA and assumptions of ANOVA and ANCOVA.
Discussion points include:
Session 1
Measures of location and dispersion, plus activities to explore data visualisation techniques, appropriate summary statistics and basic significance testing.
Session 2
P-values and confidence intervals, plus activities to explore confidence intervals, other data types and ANOVA.
Session 3
Changes from baseline analysis; an activity using ANOVA and ANCOVA for randomised block designs, plus a demo of ANCOVA for factorial treatments.
Feedback from previous participants:
“Thank you for a fantastic course. It has certainly increased my understanding of statistical theory and experimental design and I can see this aiding my role and career”.
“After attending this course I have a much better insight into study design. It also gave me some ideas of the approach I can take with variable data that I often find in experimental outputs .”
Recommended for:
“I would recommend this course to anyone who plans in vivo experiments and analyses data.”
“Although statistics is (at least to me) a rather dry topic, it was never "too much". Highly appreciated that there were so many examples used.”
